November 7 is All Saints’ Day at First Baptist Church. This is the Sunday that we normally celebrate our church’s anniversary with Homecoming. This year we will incorporate portions of our Homecoming service as we also celebrate our 187th anniversary. All Saints’ Day is actually on November 1 or the First Sunday in November. “In the early church it became customary to remember the martyrs of the church in worship. When the list of martyrs became too great, a special day was set aside to remember their commitment to Christ, a commitment that led to their suffering and death for the sake of the gospel.” Today we recognize that we are all saints of God and for this reason we acknowledge All Saints’ Day.
